Driving shoes are shaped around the movement of the foot between pedals. Co-created with Poggy, EPT Japan’s Creative Director, Checkmate Driver turns that reference into a low suede sneaker with curved TPU panels, extended lacing, and a heel pull tab. A pebble-lug rubber outsole wraps the toe and rounded heel for grip, giving the familiar driving shape a more rugged character.

why we like it

We’re excited by how unexpected it feels. From above, it has the neat, close shape of a driving shoe. From the side, the pebble sole takes over, wrapping the toe and heel with texture and grip. That contrast gives Checkmate Driver a personality of its own.

Material

  • Upper: Suede and TPU
  • Sole: Rubber
  • Insole: 4-layer Ortholite cushioning

Care

  • Brush suede gently with a soft suede brush
  • Wipe TPU panels with a clean damp cloth
  • Avoid heavy water exposure, which may stain or damage the materials
  • Do not machine wash

fit notes

Runs slightly large. We recommend sizing down by half a size. Standard-width fit.
