Checkmate Driver continues Coco Capitán’s Checkmate Fencer series in a driving-inspired form, co-created with Poggy, EPT Japan’s Creative Director. It translates the series’ rugged lug outsole into a lower, more grounded silhouette, pairing suede, TPU paneling, and a rounded heel for control, grip, and easy wear.

why we like it

The Checkmate Driver has a strange balance in the best way: part driving shoe, part trail reference, part design object. The suede upper keeps it soft, the TPU panels add structure, and the rounded heel gives the shoe its driving-inspired shape. It feels low and precise, but the lugged sole keeps it grounded.

Care

  • Brush suede gently with a soft suede brush
  • Wipe TPU panels with a clean damp cloth
  • Avoid heavy water exposure, which may stain or damage the materials
  • Do not machine wash

fit notes

Runs slightly large. We recommend sizing down 1/2 from your regular size. Standard-width fit with a low-profile feel, rounded heel, and cushioned Ortholite support underneath.
